The Coliseum and the Royal Opera House are two of
London’s finest opera houses showing some amazing
shows. The Coliseum is currently showing ’The
Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant’ which is directed
by Richard Jones and composed by Gerald Barry, with
Kathryn Harries and Susan Bickley. And is on until
the 7th of October.
The Royal Opera House is presently showing ‘Maskarade’
which is a sparkling comedy of masters and servants,
tricks and disguises - not to mention a good measure
of young love – that makes Maskarade probably
the most accessible of all 20th century comic operas.
Based on Holberg's play and set to music by the Danish
composer Carl Nielsen in 1905-6, the opera's tuneful
character has made it much loved in its home country.
This performance is showing until the 13th of October.
